Zakarpattia embroidery is a very colorful and dense embroidery – more than a dozen colors were traditional here. Not every village here had its “favorite” range: from black-purple and cherry to green-blue. If red was combined with black, then one color necessarily stood out.
The most common techniques: low, curly stitch, straight and oblique smooth. The main shapes are a rhombus, which was decorated with other elements, and the so-called curves (zigzag). The Zakarpattia oblast’ embroidery is geometric shapes, but already in the 20th century plant motifs penetrated here.
